Helprism vs Mintlify: which one fits your readers?
An honest comparison of Helprism and Mintlify — pricing and credits, what each one is built for, updates from code, and migration. Mintlify wins on developer docs, automations out of beta and scale; Helprism wins on a customer help center at a flat price with no credits, with sync from your coding agent in beta. Competitor pricing checked September 23, 2026.
The short answer
Mintlify sells "The knowledge infrastructure agents build on" and "Self-updating documentation for startups, enterprises, and agents". Its Pro plan costs $450 a month, flat per organization, with unlimited editor seats and 10,000 credits included; its agent, assistant and automations are on Pro only. Helprism is a help center with flat per-workspace pricing: Pro at $49 a month and Business at $99, each with a 14-day trial and no card to start. The AI Onboarding Wizard builds a first draft from your URL in about a minute, the AI answer bot has no per-answer fee, and the widget, custom domain, SEO defaults and seven languages are in Pro. Coding-agent sync, in beta, proposes article rewrites from the pull request that changed the product; a person approves every one. Pick Mintlify if your readers are developers. Pick Helprism if your readers are customers.

Where Mintlify wins
Developer docs and API references. Automations out of beta, with a public track record: on Mintlify's own public docs repository, 135 of the 187 closed "Update from code changes" pull requests were merged, by our count on September 23, 2026 (Mintlify's team on its own docs, so a best case). Controls on what triggers a run: required paths, skipped authors or bots, and related fixes grouped into one pull request. Scale: "20,000+ companies", including Anthropic, Microsoft and Coinbase; Helprism is new, with no SOC 2 report yet. Built for agent readers: agents made up 66% of measured web traffic across Mintlify-hosted docs in July 2026.
Where Helprism wins
Built for customers — a public help center with an embeddable widget, an AI answer bot that cites its sources, a custom domain with automatic SSL, SEO defaults and seven languages, all in Pro. Price — $49 or $99 a month flat against $450 a month plus credits. No credits — Mintlify charges 250 credits per automation update ($2.50 at the overage rate) and 25 per assistant answer; Helprism meters neither. Your diff stays on your machine, in beta — the coding agent that wrote the change proposes the rewrite at pull request time. Live in minutes from your URL with the AI Onboarding Wizard.
Updates from code: what ships today
Mintlify today: automations on Pro start when a pull request merges in a connected repository, on a push or on a schedule, with path and author filters (up to 20 of each per repository). One agent run reviews the changed files and opens a pull request that you review or, optionally, auto-merge. A run that changes nothing costs nothing; an update costs 250 credits. Helprism today (beta): when Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Windsurf finishes a change or opens a pull request, the helprism-sync skill flags which help articles the change affects and drafts the fixes through the Helprism MCP server, on Pro and Business; a GitHub App and a CLI are optional server-side doors on Business, capped at 500 events a month. Every suggestion waits in the Changes inbox until a person accepts, edits or rejects it; there is no auto-merge. On the agent door, code and diffs never leave your machine; the security page lists what each door sends. What beta means: expect some missed updates and the occasional false alarm.
When to pick each
Pick Mintlify if your readers are developers, you need API references and developer docs, you want automations out of beta, and $450 a month plus credits fits the budget. Pick Helprism if your readers are customers and you want a complete help center with a widget and AI answers at a flat price with no credits, with sync from your coding agent in beta. Use both: Mintlify at docs.yourcompany.com, Helprism at help.yourcompany.com.
